Rock Climbing

Group of climbers preparing to tackle rock face.Climbing is one of the most exhilarating and exciting ‘adventure’ sports. It covers a wide variety of forms, from indoor climbing walls to high mountains and steep sea stacks. I offer bespoke rock climbing instruction, from a fun taster ‘have a go day’ with your mates to making that transition from indoor ‘wall climbing’ to lead climbing on the ‘real stuff’ all courses are built around the client’s needs and aspirations.

Hill Walking and Mountaineering

Walker on rocky outcrop admiring the viewPeace and tranquillity is what most people seek in the mountains, but are often wary of this strange new environment. I offer group leading in the UK upland hills and mountains. Seeking out those rarely visited, tooked away places. This can take the form of a single day out to a multi-day back packing expedition with wild mountain overnight camping.

Low Visibility Navigation

Night Time Navigation CourseThis is the next step after the ‘beginners’ course. Low visibility can happen at any time of the year and at any time during the day. Night fall, snow white-outs and hill fog all cause ‘low vis’ Different techniques and skills are required to cope with this environment. I offer outdoor evening sessions to cover these new techniques. Starting just before dusk we walk into the night navigating all the way. Basic understanding of map and compass is a pre-requisite for this short but informative course.

Canoeing

Canoeist on lake.Canoeing is a fast growing, sociable and fun past time, from lakes to simple, easy rivers a canoe trip can be anything from a gentle afternoon out to a multi-day camping expedition. I offer basic coaching to ‘get you going’ to a full weekend expedition with overnight camps. All canoeing trips are built around the client’s needs and aspirations.
